On November 12, 2025, Burswood Park in Perth came alive with excitement as "Have a Go Day" took over the scene to celebrate WA Seniors Week! This beloved annual event was a fantastic gathering filled with over 230 free activities and vibrant information booths. Older adults had a blast trying new things, mingling with new friends, and keeping both their bodies and minds active.
As Perth's leading multicultural aged care provider, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) brought a vibrant and welcoming spirit to the event. Our stall was a hive of activity, drawing in large crowds with a mix of valuable information about our aged care services, personalised consultations, and fun games with exciting giveaways. Our dedicated staff were on hand, patiently answering seniors' questions about home care, our programs, and navigating service applications. It was all about empowering them with practical knowledge and helping them embrace a fulfilling, positive lifestyle in their own communities.

One particularly notable attendee was Mr Yuen, aged 93, who arrived wearing CWCC's earliest volunteer uniform and carrying his camera. A cherished long-time volunteer, he captured joyful moments throughout the day. He posed for photos with the new generation of CWCC volunteers, and his proud smile spoke volumes.
Mr Yuen humbly describes himself as a "lifelong volunteer," and he believes his enthusiasm for learning keeps him vibrant. He shares, "Even though I'm getting on in years, I've never stopped learning. After I retired, I dove right in, started from scratch with smartphones and computers, picked up photography, and learned editing, all one step at a time." He feels that this continuous learning not only keeps his mind sharp but also helps him fend off the effects of aging. His journey truly embodies CWCC's philosophy of positive aging, which celebrates life, growth, and the contributions we can all make, regardless of age.

Later in the day, a proud moment unfolded as CWCC's senior participants took part in the event's community walk, accompanied by staff. With CWCC flags held high, the group moved with steady steps and radiant smiles, exuding confidence and vitality. Their presence became one of the day's most memorable sights in the park.
In recent years, CWCC has been actively promoting a balanced lifestyle of health and lifelong learning through its Evergreen College programme. At this year's Have a Go Day, the Evergreen College display drew significant interest, with many attendees signing up for classes after speaking with staff onsite.

The success of Have a Go Day truly showed how much our community values its senior members. It was a wonderful reflection of the deep respect we have for them. At the same time, it highlighted CWCC's increasing reputation and influence in the realm of multicultural aged care. By teaming up with government agencies, local community groups, and the public, we at CWCC are dedicated to nurturing all aspects of seniors' lives, physically, socially, and culturally.
