With autumn’s golden touch in the air this March, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) invited seniors from both its northern and southern community hubs for a lively seaside adventure in Fremantle—full of laughter, fresh breezes, and good company.
Nearly 30 people joined the outing, including several Vietnamese seniors from the northern hub. This shows CWCC’s strong commitment to supporting multicultural communities and building real connections among people from different backgrounds.

This special trip took place during Western Australia’s well-known outdoor exhibition, Sculpture by the Sea. With clear skies and pleasant weather, participants walked along the coast, enjoying sculptures set against the ocean. The artworks, which blended creativity with the natural landscape, encouraged seniors to pause, reflect, and share their thoughts, creating a relaxed, uplifting atmosphere.
During the trip, the group also visited the harbour and took a group photo by the sea, capturing a joyful moment together. Many seniors said that outings like this offer more than just a change of scenery. They provide valuable chances to reconnect with nature, socialise, and reduce feelings of isolation, all of which help improve overall wellbeing.

The day ended with a seafood lunch in Fremantle. Everyone enjoyed fresh, tasty dishes and a lively atmosphere. During the meal, participants shared stories and laughter, strengthening friendships and deepening their sense of community.
CWCC plans these outings to balance outdoor activities with social time and makes sure everyone can join in. This is one reason they are so popular in the community. Even with different language backgrounds, seniors communicated easily through simple English, gestures, and mutual help, creating a warm and welcoming environment.

As part of Evergreen College's ongoing work, these outings continue to look for ways to add meaningful, easy-to-join social experiences to everyday community services.
Looking ahead, CWCC will continue to improve how often and how these activities are run. They plan to include seasonal themes, cultural events, and light physical activities to create a lasting way for seniors to connect, feel well, and enjoy cultural experiences.
