Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) is dedicated to improving seniors’ wellbeing and supporting community health. By partnering with academic institutions and national research projects, CWCC makes sure multicultural communities have a voice in research and policy. The organisation also turns research findings into practical services and resources that meet real community needs.
As part of a dementia research project, CWCC aims to reduce loneliness and build stronger social support networks. This project combines community companionship services with personalised advice and referral options, helping participants reconnect with others. Results show that people feel less isolated and more connected.
For mental health research, CWCC are working tirelessly to make support more accessible to multicultural communities. Seniors and families from diverse backgrounds often face additional challenges when seeking help, including language barriers, differing cultural norms, or insufficient information. To help, CWCC has supported the development of digital resources in multiple languages so community members can find practical information about mental health, stress, and caregiving in languages and settings they know.
CWCC also leads important discussions about end-of-life care and palliative support, which are often not talked about openly in many Asian cultures. By working with universities, CWCC offers educational seminars run by professionals. These sessions help seniors and their families learn about advance care planning, medical choices, care options, and how to prepare emotionally.
To further this work, CWCC invites seniors and carers interested in participating in ongoing research and community projects. By taking part, individuals can gain access to valuable information and support, while also contributing their life experiences to help shape more inclusive and effective services. Together, these efforts ensure that the needs and voices of multicultural seniors and their families are recognised and reflected at a broader level.
