Carers Week 2025 kicked off on 12 October, and it's all about recognising and celebrating the incredible contributions of the estimated three million carers across the country. This year's theme, "You are, know, or will be one," emphasises that caring is a role that connects many of us.
Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) emphasises that carers play an irreplaceable role in families and the broader community. While they pour energy and love into caring for others, their well-being is often overlooked. To support these unsung heroes, CWCC curated two special events under the theme “Recharge and Renew: Chair Yoga and Resilience Workshop”, providing family carers with a dedicated space to relax, connect, and rediscover their own strength.

The first workshop was held on Monday, 13 October at the Willetton Community Hub, where 14 carers from diverse cultural backgrounds participated. Guided by a professional health coach and mental wellness advisor, the session introduced gentle chair yoga, breathing techniques, meditation, and mindfulness practices. Participants were encouraged to become aware of physical tension and fatigue. They learned simple movements to restore energy amid daily caring duties.
The second workshop followed on Thursday, 16 October at Bayswater Drill Hall, drawing even more carers from northern communities. By hosting events in different areas, CWCC aimed to make support more accessible and offer carers a moment to pause, breathe, and recharge close to home.

Beyond the community workshops, CWCC was honoured to sponsor the Carers Week Industry Breakfast held on 14 October. This event brought together government officials, sector experts, and not-for-profit representatives to explore how cross-sector collaboration, policy advocacy, and resource integration can better address the needs of carers. As an organisation with years of experience serving culturally and linguistically diverse communities, CWCC also shared insights on the unique challenges faced by carers from non-English-speaking backgrounds.
Notably, CWCC’s relaunched Carer Gateway support programme received an enthusiastic response. The CWCC team guided carers in understanding the range of support available, including emotional counselling, respite care, financial assistance, and service referrals.

Following the workshops, several carers proactively contacted CWCC for further assistance, highlighting the community’s strong recognition of and demand for this vital service.
CWCC remains committed to strengthening resilience and social connection among carers through education, outreach, and tailored support. For more information or assistance, please email:
