To mark the Mid-Autumn Festival, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) hosted a series of celebrations across its northern and southern community hubs and local neighbourhoods. Blending music, dance, games, and delicious food, the festivities brought together seniors and community members for a heartwarming celebration of tradition and togetherness.

At the Willetton Community Hub, the event welcomed special guests including Federal MP Sam Lim and CWCC Chairperson Esther, who joined seniors in celebrating the occasion. Mr Lim personally handed out mooncakes and shared warm wishes with attendees, taking the time to chat and pose for photos. “The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time to celebrate reunion and gratitude,” he said. “I’m delighted to spend this special evening with CWCC’s seniors, sharing mooncakes and smiles. May the moonlight tonight bring everyone warmth and happiness.”

The event featured a lively line-up of performances. The "Gaoshan Liushui" band delighted the crowd with beloved Chinese classics such as The Moon Represents My Heart, Longing Under the Moonlight, and Crescent Moon. The Tai Chi and Qigong group performed the Kung Fu Fan and 32-Form Tai Chi Sword, showcasing the seniors’ vitality and wellbeing. A five-course festive lunch also won praise from attendees Swe Chu and Amy, who said, “The meal was absolutely delicious and thoughtfully prepared!” The day was filled with laughter, joy, and a strong sense of celebration.

Meanwhile, the Balcatta Community Hub hosted its own vibrant Mid-Autumn event. CWCC’s Tai Chi team presented May We All Be Blessed with Longevity, while a graceful dance and cello duet of The Butterfly Lovers captivated the audience. Master Liu Shude impressed with a powerful Tai Chi demonstration, and the Xiaoya Dance Team’s rendition of The Moon Represents My Heart earned rounds of applause. Interactive games added to the festive atmosphere, with seniors collecting stamps from each activity to enter a lucky draw for prizes such as hats and handcrafted lanterns.

lantern-making, and games. The Community Development Advisor from the organisers extended heartfelt thanks: “We sincerely appreciate CWCC’s support. Your volunteers were warm and welcoming, and your contribution helped make the event a great success.” Many participants, especially the children enjoying lantern crafts, shared their joy: “Thank you — we had so much fun!”

Beneath the glow of the full moon, the meaning of reunion goes beyond family — it blossoms into connection and care within the community. Through these festive activities, CWCC hopes that every senior feels seen, valued, and warmly embraced.
