Exciting news! On November 4th and 5th, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) hosted a wonderful 40th Anniversary Exhibition at Southland Shopping Centre. It was a fantastic opportunity for community members to come together, celebrate, and reflect on CWCC’s incredible four-decade journey in community service, promoting active ageing, and embracing cultural diversity. The exhibition showcased inspiring stories from Western Australia’s immigrant community, highlighting how CWCC has supported and empowered individuals and families throughout the years.
Throughout the event, attendees expressed enthusiastic interest in CWCC’s aged care services, with many registering on-site with assistance from CWCC staff. These interactions helped raise community awareness of aged care options. They provided an accessible path for individuals and families to find support tailored to their needs.
The exhibition covers twelve themes, presenting a comprehensive view of CWCC’s history, achievements, and community impact. Rare photos and highlights from CWCC’s journey since its founding in 1984 offer visitors a vivid glimpse into the people and milestones that have shaped its story over the past 40 years.
At the heart of CWCC’s growth has been its dedication to serving immigrant communities. The exhibition showcases CWCC’s vital support for Western Australia’s immigrant population, including bilingual services, efforts to bridge cultural gaps, and initiatives to promote positive ageing and community integration. The exhibition underscores CWCC’s role in fostering belonging and social connection among immigrants by sharing community stories.
A highlight of the exhibition is the spotlight on CWCC’s Community Hubs, cherished spaces for connection, learning, and support. These hubs provide a rich array of services, including aged care, cultural activities, health seminars, and exercise guidance, helping seniors to stay active and connected. Displays featuring Community Hub activities captivated visitors, with many expressing interest in how to get involved and make new connections in a culturally supportive environment.
The Southland exhibition marks the beginning of CWCC’s 40th Anniversary celebrations. On November 27th, CWCC will host the “40th Anniversary and Dementia Prevention Health Expo” at the Willetton Community Hub (58 Burrendah Boulevard, Willetton), where all exhibition panels will be on full display. The event will include information booths, health seminars, cultural performances, and complimentary refreshments. CWCC staff will offer guided exhibition tours, and all community members are warmly invited to join us. Please reserve your spot in advance – we look forward to celebrating with you!
