Throughout Chung Wah Community Care’s (CWCC) 40-year journey, countless dedicated employees have played a crucial role in shaping it into one of Western Australia’s largest multicultural service organisations. Among them, one name stands out—Louis.
Since joining CWCC in 2005, Louis has become an integral part of its story. From his early days as a care worker, a driver and rostering coordinator to his deep involvement in community hub operations, he has remained at the frontline, devoted to serving seniors.
Two decades ago, CWCC welcomed its first 11-seater minivan, and Louis became a key figure in its transport services. Back then, he frequently navigated across the city, ensuring seniors with mobility difficulties could participate in CWCC activities. Without the convenience of GPS, he relied on hand-drawn maps, meticulously planning the best routes to guarantee safe and comfortable journeys for the seniors.
Later, Louis transitioned into the role of Case Coordinator, where his personalised, meticulous approach earned the deep trust of seniors, making him an irreplaceable presence in their lives. In this role, he went beyond attending to their daily needs—he offered genuine emotional support and practical assistance, forming strong, lasting connections with those he served.
Louis also played an active role in CWCC’s media initiatives, taking on responsibilities for our CWCC’s radio programmes. Today, CWCC’s radio broadcasts have embraced AI technology, replacing traditional human hosts. Reflecting on this shift, Louis remarked, “Technological advancements are incredible, but the warmth and human connection CWCC provides are irreplaceable—no technology can ever replicate that.”
When asked about his unwavering commitment over the years, Louis said, “CWCC has allowed me to develop skills, immerse myself in local culture, and integrate into society. It has been the foundation for my personal growth and a catalyst for my professional journey.”
Now preparing for retirement, Louis has no plans to completely part ways with CWCC. “I hope to continue contributing in a meaningful way,” he said, demonstrating his enduring dedication to the organisation.
For CWCC’s younger generation, Louis offers heartfelt advice:
“Aged care is far from a dull or routine job. At CWCC, you’ll discover an industry full of vitality, with new daily challenges and opportunities. Most importantly, approach this work with passion and responsibility—build genuine, meaningful relationships with the seniors you serve.”
Louis’ journey is more than a career—it is a testament to CWCC’s core values and a symbol of its unwavering commitment to seniors and migrant communities. As CWCC continues to innovate and evolve, the legacy of dedicated individuals like Louis will remain deeply embedded in its history, serving as a guiding light for future generations.
