As Perth waved goodbye to the temperamental weather of May, the local council promptly issued an order on a compulsory winter sprinkler ban from 1st June. Mother Nature responded with a downpour, officially heralding winter's arrival. Despite Perth's gloomy and rainy days, our seniors' excitement for the quarterly birthday celebrations remains unyielding.
In the recent week, Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) has hosted a collective winter birthday celebration for those toasting their birthdays in June, July and August. Staff and volunteers of Chung Wah CC offered a heartwarming performance of "Happy Birthday", sung in multiple languages. Their harmonious voices echoed through the Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs, extending wishes of longevity to the seniors. The team also served delicious cakes, symbolising their deep respect and heartfelt wishes. Chung Wah CC, committed to constant improvement, keeps introducing fresh elements into its activities. Each guest was formally invited through an invitation letter to elevate the importance of the participants of the birthday parties. Furthermore, the guests were encouraged to bring along their gardening accomplishments, sharing the joy and experiences they have gleaned from their horticultural efforts.
At Chung Wah CC, the quarterly birthday parties bear multiple layers of significance. Apart from the lively traditional celebrations, these gatherings also celebrate the senior's remarkable achievements in the past year, both within the community hubs and at home. These include the produce grown by gardening enthusiasts and the physical accomplishments of fitness devotees. Both aspects significantly contribute to the seniors' physical and mental wellbeing, ensuring they maintain their status as "joyful elders" - those who, in good mental and physical health, retain their independence, continue to live at home during their golden era and thoroughly savour life.
Within the Evergreen College at Chung Wah CC's community hubs, seniors can freely choose their preferred activities for physical and mental exercise. Chung Wah CC inspires seniors to persist in self-improvement, engage in lifelong learning, and courageously try new things. We assist seniors in regaining and maintaining their daily living skills, allowing them to reintegrate into the community and enjoy a healthy, meaningful golden era.
Chung Wah has been servicing the WA community since 1909, dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Moreover, Chung Wah CC has over 35 years of professional care experience helping seniors and people with disability improve their wellbeing and better integrate into the community. In 2023, we're promoting our theme, "Embrace, Elevate & Flourish", and build a better community for all.
