From November 30 to December 8, 2024, the Perth Chinese Cultural Festival, sponsored by the Western Australian Government’s Office of Multicultural Interests, was held at Burswood Park. Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) was honoured to participate in the event by hosting a booth that attracted a large audience with a variety of activities and informational services. The booth highlighted CWCC’s significant impact on the Chinese, Asian, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
CWCC’s booth offered various engaging activities, including Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, interactive games, and on-site consultations. By combining aged care services, Chinese cultural elements, and the concept of multicultural integration, CWCC successfully reached a wider audience and conveyed its mission of inclusion and support.
The Perth Chinese Cultural Festival featured a wide range of events, such as international dragon boat racing, high-pole lion dance performances, and Chinese culinary stalls. Among these, CWCC’s booth stood out for its thoughtful services and innovative approach. Recognising the challenges migrants face with language barriers and cultural adaptation, CWCC uses outreach events like these to provide accessible support and assistance to community members.
As Western Australia’s oldest and largest Chinese community service organisation, CWCC holds a prestigious reputation within the Chinese community. Its parent organisation, the Chung Wah Association, boasts a remarkable 115-year history. From language training to cultural promotion, lifestyle guidance, and aged care services, CWCC has provided comprehensive support to immigrants, helping them integrate into local society. Its services extend beyond the Chinese community, reaching Asian and multicultural groups, making CWCC’s impact genuinely inclusive.
At our CWCC’s booth, families had fun participating in various games and winning delightful prizes. Chinese culture enthusiasts were captivated by the calligraphy demonstrations, and seniors looking for professional advice received thoughtful consultations. This event allowed CWCC to showcase its outstanding service capabilities and cultural influence while fostering stronger connections with diverse members of the community.
CWCC’s participation in the Perth Chinese Cultural Festival not only demonstrated its commitment to serving the community but also contributed significantly to the development of a vibrant and inclusive multicultural society in Western Australia.
