Join hosts Ah Chung and Ah Wah for a lively chat about the incredible journey of CWCC since 1984! They dive into the amusing yet heartfelt origins of CWCC, created to help Asian seniors tackle language and cultural hurdles in Australia. From its humble beginnings of having just one full-time staff and a team of passionate volunteers, CWCC has blossomed into a vibrant place of support for nearly a thousand clients from Chinese and diverse backgrounds, becoming a true gem of Western Australia’s multicultural scene!
This episode brings to life the exciting anniversary launch ceremony of CWCC, held at the Chung Wah Association on James Street. A place of incredible history and a part of the Chinese community for over a century. Thanks to the efforts of CWCC’s staff, the venue was transformed for the special occasion. A highlight of the launch was the commemorative exhibition, featuring precious photographs and compelling stories documenting CWCC’s journey, touching attendees’ hearts.
Following the launch, CWCC organised a series of events throughout 2024 to extend the celebration to the broader community. The programme revisits key moments from these festivities, which included the Have a Go Day, a morning tea gathering for senior clients, the Health Expo, and the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. These activities not only showcased CWCC’s extensive contributions to the community but also fostered meaningful engagement and collective joy.
Good Times in Perth is available in Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and Vietnamese, ensuring accessibility for listeners from diverse cultural backgrounds. Audiences can watch the latest episode on CWCC’s YouTube channel, Chung Wah Community Care 中华社区服务, to gain an exclusive look behind the scenes of the anniversary celebrations.
As the Longevity Banquet in February 2025 marks the grand finale of this year-long commemoration, CWCC is already looking to the future. CWCC CEO Theresa Kwok stated, “This is not the end, but a new beginning. We remain committed to our core values of care and support, working alongside our partners to serve seniors, carers, and members of our multicultural community, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious society.”
