On 29 October 2025, to honour the traditional Chinese virtues of respecting and caring for the elderly, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) hosted a special Double Ninth Festival celebration. The event warmly welcomed the presence of Ms Fu Lihua, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Perth, who joined seniors from across Western Australia to mark this meaningful occasion together.
Mr Andy Yuan, President of Chung Wah Association, and Mrs Theresa Kwok, CEO of CWCC, attended the celebration. Both extended heartfelt greetings and well wishes to the elders and guests. The venue was filled with cheerful laughter, joy, and a deep sense of community spirit.

In her address, Consul General Fu expressed sincere regards and blessings to all seniors. She acknowledged their valuable contributions to community building and the development of Western Australia's multicultural society. She encouraged the local Chinese community to continue promoting the fine traditions of Chinese culture, with a strong emphasis on filial piety and care for the elderly.
During the event, Ms Fu also personally served refreshments and fruit to the seniors, taking the time to sit and chat with them about their daily lives and wellbeing. She was deeply moved and inspired by the seniors’ positive outlook, their love for life, and their sense of belonging within the CWCC community.

The CWCC volunteer team delivered a series of engaging cultural performances, including traditional musical pieces and a Tai Chi showcase, which added festive flair and cultural depth to the event.
In her remarks, Mrs Kwok expressed gratitude for Consul General Fu’s visit and support.

Mrs Kwok also reflected on the rich history of the Chung Wah Association, noting that over a century ago, the first Chinese migrants arrived in Western Australia. Despite facing linguistic and cultural barriers in a far more challenging environment than today, they persevered through resilience and mutual support, establishing the original Chung Wah Association on James Street. Today, CWCC proudly carries forward that legacy, practising the core values of unity, mutual help, and community care to serve and enrich the lives of local seniors.
Since its founding in 1984, CWCC has provided culturally sensitive aged care and support services to over 1,200 seniors, continuously promoting the concept of ageing in place. CWCC empowers seniors to enjoy a healthy, fulfilling, and dignified life within a familiar cultural and linguistic environment.
