On September 17, 2024, Deputy Consul General Wang Fengzhong of the Chinese Consulate in Perth visited Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) in Western Australia to extend his heartfelt greetings to our seniors and the CWCC team. Consul Chen Lingyan, President of the Chung Wah Association Chen Ting, Senior Vice President Yuan Haobo, CWCC CEO Theresa Kwok, and Chairwoman Esther Zheng also attended the event.
At the CWCC Willetton Community Hub, Deputy Consul General Wang delivered sincere greetings on behalf of the Chinese Consulate to our senior community in Western Australia. He emphasised that respecting and caring for the elderly is a long-standing tradition of the Chinese people. The Consulate cares deeply about the well-being and health of older adults within the local Chinese community and expresses gratitude for their contributions to promoting multiculturalism and harmonious development in Western Australia. He also presented mooncakes, a symbol of reunion, to the seniors on behalf of the Consulate and engaged in warm interactions with CWCC's volunteer team.
The day's celebration kicked off with a fitness dance performance carefully rehearsed by the seniors. The song Our Moon Will Surely Be Full deeply conveyed their longing for family reunion and happiness, with each movement reflecting their hopes for family, health, and joy. This was followed by a graceful performance by students from the Wenxin Dance Class, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese dance. The Flowing Water instrumental performance brought an elegant and timeless musical atmosphere, with the soothing melodies resonating deeply in the hearts of the seniors.
In addition, four rounds of fun games were thoughtfully arranged, with seniors enthusiastically participating in beanbag tossing and other activities, creating a lively atmosphere. Every senior who completed a game received a lovely prize, and together with the beautifully crafted mooncakes, everyone left with smiles and full hearts. One senior, beaming with joy, remarked, "This Mid-Autumn Festival celebration is even more lively than at home. Celebrating together like this feels especially warm!"
No matter where one is, the warmth of home is never far away. CWCC hopes that every senior feels the support and companionship of the community. In this moment of reunion, may they hold the brightness of the moon in their hearts, with their homesickness comforted by the love surrounding them.
