Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) 's Willetton Community Hub is a welcoming and lively gathering place where people come together to share laughter, build friendships, and create cherished memories. Unfortunately, this familiar space is currently rented, and CWCC still needs a permanent facility in the southern region. Securing a long-term, dedicated venue to continue providing convenient services has become an urgent priority. Your support could be the key to making this dream a reality!
Thanks to the tireless efforts of community members, the Premier of Western Australia, Hon. Roger Cook MLA, has announced the transfer of a 7,000-square-meter plot of land in Bentley to the Chung Wah Association to create a new community hub. However, the total cost for the first phase of this project is a substantial $9 million, and time is of the essence. To meet this financial challenge, CWCC is launching a fundraising initiative to help bring this milestone project to life.
This project represents CWCC's first dedicated community hub in the southern region. Imagine a place with spacious public kitchens, cutting-edge multipurpose halls, open spaces with outdoor facilities, and a beautifully designed Chinese garden... With your generous contribution, these visions can become a reality, marking an important chapter in the growth of Perth's immigrant community.
Over a century ago, the first Chinese immigrants arrived in Perth. Despite facing the same language barriers and cultural differences that today's immigrants experience, their situation was much more complex and lacked the inclusivity we now strive for. But with determination and a spirit of unity, these pioneers built the Chung Wah Hall on James Street.
Time has passed, but CWCC's seniors have carried on this legacy of generosity. Through fundraising efforts at the Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs, they have collectively raised over $18,200 across three campaigns. Some have donated multiple times, while others, even without a steady income, have given from their savings. One senior emotionally shared, "What we enjoy today is the result of the efforts of those before us. Now, I feel I must contribute what I can, as helping others is truly a noble act."
The Chung Wah Hall on James Street has been recognised as a historical heritage site by the WA Government. And now, every donation you make will also be etched into history, benefitting generations of immigrant communities and creating a lasting impact.
Just as the early immigrants exemplified the spirit of solidarity, completing the Bentley Community Hub will stand as a new symbol of immigrant strength and unity. No matter one's ethnicity or language, this hub will become a home for people from all walks of life, fostering friendships, providing support, and achieving true inclusion and mutual assistance.
Join us in making this meaningful project a reality. Your contribution, no matter how small, will help build a brighter future for future generations.
