Between 15 and 19 December 2025, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC)’s Evergreen College held five days of Christmas celebrations at its community hubs. People took part in dancing, singing, fitness, crafts, games, and shared tasty food. Everyone received beautifully prepared gifts, all filled with joy and festive spirit.
A Festive Fiesta with Spanish and Filipino Communities
At the CWCC Balcatta Community Hub, the celebration started with drumbeats that invited seniors to dance. Seniors from Spanish-speaking backgrounds led cheerful carols, and the Filipino group played guitars for a sing-along. At the Christmas buffet lunch, the Filipino group shared their homemade festive dishes, showing Evergreen College’s lively and welcoming spirit.

Christmas Cheer in the North and South Hubs
The celebrations continued at both the Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs. CWCC staff and volunteers welcomed seniors to rooms decorated for Christmas. Many seniors came early to see friends and take photos with the staff.
CWCC’s CEO, Mrs Theresa Kwok JP, gave Christmas wishes in three languages, shared updates on aged care policies, and encouraged everyone to join CWCC’s Consumer Advisory Committee to help improve services for the community.
The event was full of laughter and energy as staff led group fitness, Christmas dances, and performances. Many seniors joined in, clapping and moving along with the music. Some volunteer seniors also went on stage to play ukulele and sing Christmas carols, filling the room with joyful music.

Shared Meals and Shared Moments
A special Christmas lunch was served, featuring a colorful, carefully prepared spread. Everyone enjoyed it. After lunch, there was a Christmas bingo game and prize draws, bringing lots of laughter as almost everyone won a gift.
At the end of the celebration, everyone took a quiet moment to write their Christmas wishes. Some wished for good health, family reunions, and happiness for friends, or wrote thank-you notes to CWCC.

Evergreen Spirit Extends to the Broader Community
Community members who attend Evergreen College programs also enjoyed the holiday spirit, not just CWCC’s senior clients. Many brought their favorite dishes to share, and everyone exchanged festive cheer in a friendly, lively setting. Prize draws and cultural performances helped bring everyone together.
As the celebration ended, seniors left with gifts and smiles, marking a joyful end to Christmas week. CWCC sends warm wishes to all seniors, families, and community partners for a happy Christmas and a great New Year. In 2026, CWCC will keep supporting the community and sharing special moments with seniors.
