Following the successful launch of Evergreen College at Bayswater, a proud initiative of Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC), many of its popular community activities have officially extended their reach. From November to December, a series of engaging workshops was held at the Bayswater Drill Hall, filled with laughter, learning, and lively discussion.

Gardening proved just as popular. Participants learned how to make their own organic fertiliser, naturally repel aphids, and propagate plants through cuttings. Everyone eagerly joined the hands-on activities, creating a vibrant, interactive atmosphere. Many seniors shared how gardening adds colour to their daily lives and helps relieve stress, describing it as a natural remedy for the mind and soul.

Recycling and Waste Sorting: Understanding the Three-Bin System

With the three-bin waste-sorting system now rolling out across WA, many seniors want to learn how to sort waste correctly. This workshop used clear examples and addressed common questions, helping participants feel more confident about practising environmentally friendly habits at home.

Cooking Demonstration: Healthy, Delicious and Communal
4 December 2025
In the final workshop, the speaker demonstrated how to prepare healthy, tasty meals and shared practical nutrition tips along the way. As the food cooked, participants gathered around, drawn by the aroma. The tasting session was full of cheerful conversation and laughter, ending the term at Evergreen College, Bayswater, on a warm and joyful note.
After the events, CWCC received lots of positive feedback from the community. Many participants said these workshops encouraged them to get out of the house, connect with others, and improve their physical and mental well-being.
Looking ahead, Evergreen College, led by CWCC, will continue to offer practical, enjoyable, and community-focused courses in local neighbourhoods. By focusing on accessibility, multicultural inclusion, and real-world relevance, the program helps seniors from all backgrounds easily join in, learn new skills, and make meaningful friendships. Each workshop helps improve lives.
