November in Western Australia brings the annual celebration of WA Seniors Week, scheduled this year from 12th to 19th November. It's a time dedicated to celebrating and honouring the invaluable contributions that seniors make to our community.
Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) wholeheartedly supports Seniors Week. From 13th to 17th November, we are organising a series of morning tea events at our Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs. These gatherings allow seniors to come together, savour exquisite tea snacks, reminisce about their glorious past, and cherish their vibrant golden years.
The origins of WA Seniors Week can be traced back to 1982, initially orchestrated by COTA WA (Council On The Ageing Western Australia) as a single-day event to elevate awareness of the significant contributions made by seniors. By 1991, it expanded into a full week, garnering support from a multitude of community organisations and local governments. Highlights of the week include the "Have A Go Day" and recognition of outstanding seniors, making it a prime opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions seniors bring to Western Australia, as well as to elevate awareness about senior issues and promote healthy ageing.
Chung Wah has been servicing the WA community since 1909, dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals from diverse backgrounds. With over 35 years of professional care experience, Chung Wah CC is committed to enhancing the well-being of seniors and people with disabilities, helping them better integrate into the community. In 2023, under the theme "Embrace, Elevate & Flourish", we continue to collaborate with government and community institutions to improve the welfare of the community and jointly create a better future for all.
