Recently, as the cool breezes started to mingle with warmer weather, the Perthites began to see the persistent winter rains give way to the vibrant bloom of spring. Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) took this delightful turn as an opportunity to organise a collective spring birthday celebration for our valued seniors born in September, October, and November.
Staff and volunteers at Chung Wah CC serenaded the celebrants in various languages with joyful renditions of 'Happy Birthday'. The harmonious melodies resonated throughout the Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs, sending well wishes for the seniors' longevity. Delightful cakes were presented to the guests, symbolising respect and blessings.
Continuous improvement is a core aim at Chung Wah CC, and we consistently infuse fresh elements into our events. To provide a greater sense of occasion for the birthday gatherings, formal invitations were extended to each guest. Additionally, attendees were encouraged to bring along the fruits of their gardening efforts, sharing the joy and insights from their planting experiences.
At Chung Wah CC, quarterly birthday events hold several meaningful significance. While traditional birthday festivities remain central, a more profound resonance lies in recognising the seniors' accomplishments at the community hubs and at home over the past year. This encompasses achievements from gardening enthusiasts and the physical advancements made by those passionate about exercise. Both extents significantly contribute to maintaining the senior in a "joyful ageing" state - characterised by rich physical and mental health, self-reliance, and cherishing their golden years at home.
At the community hub's Evergreen College, seniors can choose activities they prefer for holistic well-being. Chung Wah CC encourages elders to persevere, embrace lifelong learning, and venture into new endeavours. We assist them in regaining and sustaining daily self-reliance, facilitating their smooth reintegration into the community, and ensuring they enjoy a healthy and meaningful golden age.
Chung Wah has been servicing the WA community since 1909, dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Moreover, Chung Wah CC has over 35 years of professional care experience helping seniors and people with disability improve their well-being and better integrate into the community. In 2023, we're promoting our theme, "Embrace, Elevate & Flourish", and build a better community for all.
