On a recent weekend, our seniors of Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) gathered early in the morning at the Community Hub, eagerly embarking on a day of fun outing activities. Their destination was Caversham Wildlife Park (CWP) in Whiteman, where they were prepared to experience the enchantment of nature up close and personal.
Upon arrival, a group of kangaroos attracted our group seniors with their cuteness and friendliness. They were the most laid-back animals. Seniors fed the kangaroos and had the best experience that reminded them of childhood. Fun fact! Did you know the word kangaroo is derived from an Australian aboriginal named Gangurru? That also means "I don't know". This is a common myth.
CWP features about 200 species and more than 2000 heads of animals, birds and reptiles. This impressive collection makes CWP the largest privately owned wildlife park in Western Australia. In addition, the park is the premiere development of its kind in Western Australia, attracting visitors worldwide. When the family purchased the park in 1988, the park housed a small collection of animals and birds. In 2003, the family redeveloped Whiteman Park, doubling its size and enhancing many animal habitats.
The park offers a variety of activities. Our seniors chose their preferred sightseeing according to their interests. This field trip also provided shows such as haircutting for the goats. It was undoubtedly an unforgettable visit, and everyone received the best animal interaction and photography opportunities with the kangaroos. Chung Wah CC organised regular outings for senior consumers - helping them release stress, improve cognitive functions, and elevate their level of happiness.
