On the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, Perth's highly anticipated annual Chinese New Year Fair took centre stage in Northbridge, drawing large crowds eager to celebrate the festive occasion. As the largest aged care and disability services provider for the Asian community in Western Australia, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) was invited to participate in this grand event, offering a variety of engaging games and valuable service information, further demonstrating its deep commitment to the community.
To welcome the Year of the Snake, CWCC introduced an exciting and symbolic game, "Snake & Lairs – Good Fortune in the Year of the Snake". Participants rolled dice to advance step by step across a game board, symbolising steady progress and continuous good luck in the new year. The game's attractive prizes, particularly the adorable snake plush toys, proved to be a huge hit, drawing enthusiastic families to the CWCC booth. The lively atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy, making it one of the most popular spots at the festival.
More importantly, CWCC's game had a meaningful purpose at its core as participants could play simply by making a donation, with all proceeds going towards the development of CWCC's new community hub in Bentley. This initiative allowed the community to celebrate the new year while supporting a meaningful cause, demonstrating the spirit of giving and mutual care.
In addition to the interactive game, CWCC set up a dedicated service information area, providing face-to-face consultations for seniors, people with disability, and their families. The CWCC Evergreen College community activities, in particular, attracted great interest, with many visitors keen to learn more. Evergreen College offers a diverse range of social, health, and recreational classes, including Tai Chi, dance, calligraphy, and handicrafts, designed to enhance physical and mental well-being while fostering stronger community connections.
During this season of togetherness and celebration, CWCC was not just a participant in the festival; it acted as a guardian of the community's well-being. Through delightful activities and thoughtful services, CWCC ensured everyone felt supported and valued. As the new year begins, CWCC remains dedicated to enriching the lives of community members with care, commitment, and a warm sense of belonging.
