On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) hosted a festive celebration at the Balcatta and Willetton Community Hubs to welcome the Year of the Snake. CWCC extended its heartfelt blessings to all seniors, their families, and community members, wishing them happiness, good health, and prosperity in the year ahead.

When guests stepped into the community hubs, they were embraced by a vibrant festive atmosphere. CWCC staff meticulously decorated every corner with bright red lanterns, auspicious couplets, golden "Fu" symbols, and lush blossoming trees that filled the space with the joy of the new year. Seniors were captivated by the festive sights, their faces lighting up with delight. Many took the opportunity to capture the moment with friends, family, and staff, preserving these cherished memories.

Dressed in festive attire, many seniors proudly showcased intricate traditional colours, reflecting a deep connection to their cultural heritage. As they took their seats, they exchanged small and thoughtful gifts with friends and CWCC staff, each token carrying warm wishes for the new year, strengthening the bonds of care and friendship.

Adding a special touch to the celebration, the CEO of CWCC, Theresa Kwok, made a heartfelt visit to both community hubs, personally sharing her well wishes with the seniors. She brought traditional nian gao (New Year's rice cake), symbolising growth and success in the coming year, and handed them out with words of encouragement and affection. Volunteers also gathered to enjoy a festive lunch with the seniors, exchanging gifts and sharing on the joyous occasion.

To extend the festive cheer to even more community members, CWCC's Morley Evergreen College organised a joyful New Year gathering. Families of all generations came together, with children's laughter echoing through the venue, adding to the celebration's warmth and energy. The event also featured an array of homemade festive delicacies, with handmade dumplings being a crowd favourite as the fragrant aroma filled the air, evoking a sense of home and tradition.

CWCC is dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity by honouring traditional Asian festivals, such as the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as major Australian holidays, including Christmas and Easter. Whether showcasing the rich heritage of Asian traditions or embracing Australia's multicultural spirit, CWCC strives to bring these unique festivities to life for the community.
