Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) and Carers WA hosted the Carer Wellness Day Expo at the Bayswater Community Hub on 11 June to honour the important role carers play in our community. The event brought together local health, aged care, and community organisations, giving carers a friendly place to find helpful information, connect with support services, and, most importantly, focus on their own wellbeing.
The event began with welcome speeches from CWCC Chairperson Esther and Carers WA representative Ekua. They thanked the community partners for their support and recognised the dedication, compassion, and resilience carers show every day. Their words reminded everyone that carers, who give so much to others, also deserve care, recognition, and support.

The program included a range of interactive wellness activities for both body and mind. Exercise Physiologist Greg from Life Active Exercise Physiology led a gentle exercise session that welcomed people of all fitness levels. With simple, safe movements, participants worked to improve mobility, ease tension, and enjoy the benefits of staying active.
Helping Minds offered a peaceful abenefitsion, where participants learned about the calming effects of different essential oils. Carers explored various scents, discovered how they can affect mood, and blended their own personalised oils. For many, it was a special chance to pause, focus on themselves, and enjoy a quiet moment.

A highlight of the day was the Laughter Yoga session with Janet. Through laughter exercises, participants saw how laughter can ease stress, boost mood, and help overall wellbeing. Janet encouraged everyone to make space for joy, even when caring for others. Many joined in fully, recording their laughter and leaving with happy memories.
In addition to the wellness activities, carers participated in games and lucky draws and shared a light lunch. These moments gave everyone a chance to meet, share experiences, and build support networks. Each person also received a free Carer Wellness Gift Pack to take home for care and encouragement.

At the event, CWCC Senior Manager Nunu thanked all carers and emphasised the importance of supporting those who care for others.
"Looking after yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Only when we have the strength and good health ourselves can we continue to care for the people we love."
With the Carer Wellness Day Expo, CWCC aims to give carers from all backgrounds more opportunities to connect, learn, and support one another. By working with community partners, CWCC is committed to building strong support networks so every carer feels recognised, empowered, and cared for on their journey.
