With spring just around the corner and the warm weather returning, we're excited to share that Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) is gearing up for a fantastic new season of community outings! As we welcome this time of renewal and connection, let's take a moment to reflect on two of our recent outings that brought so much joy: our beautiful outing by the Boorloo Bridge and a tasty Western-style lunch at Bentley Pines.

It was great to see over 40 seniors from both our northern and southern community hubs join in on the fun! Thanks to our excellent staff and amazing volunteers, everyone was able to step out into the sunshine, enjoy the great outdoors, and reconnect with one another. It truly was a special time for everyone to rediscover the happiness and rhythm of life together. We can't wait for more exciting outings, so join us as we continue celebrating our vibrant community!

At Boorloo Bridge, participants enjoyed a relaxing urban walk beneath a beautiful sky and gentle sea breeze. As they made their way across the bridge, seniors stopped to admire the port views and engaged in warm conversations with one another, creating a joyful and carefree atmosphere. Some seniors in wheelchairs were also able to join with the help of staff, their faces lighting up with smiles as they basked in the long-missed sunshine.

Lunch was followed by a visit to a local restaurant, where steaming plates of dim sum brought comfort and familiarity. After the meal, a few seniors eagerly took to the stage to sing nostalgic tunes, one after another, stirring heartfelt applause from the audience. Even a Spanish-speaking senior who didn't share the same language as the others smiled throughout, exchanging warm glances with her fellow diners, a silent yet meaningful moment of mutual understanding.

Soon after, CWCC brought another group of seniors to dine at Bentley Pines Training Restaurant, where hospitality students served a delightful three-course Western meal. For many participants, this was a first-time experience. While the unfamiliar table settings and dishes sparked curiosity, seniors approached the moment with an open mind, and some quietly asked staff how to use a knife and fork. Others observed Western dining etiquette and tried to follow along. The experience was both fun and heart-warming, offering a cultural exchange and a unique opportunity to socialise beyond everyday settings.

These outings are a true reflection of CWCC's commitment to positive ageing. Despite the challenges posed by age, physical limitations, language barriers, and cultural differences, CWCC firmly believes that with the right support, every senior can confidently step out, engage with society, and continue to enjoy life.
