The latest episode of Good Times in Perth, the community radio programme produced by Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC), has just aired with an exciting new look and feel. Highlights include the debut of an enhanced AI co-host, “Ah Wah,” and an insightful segment exploring a virtual dementia simulation experience. The programme continues to deliver engaging and practical content covering local updates, healthy living tips, and community resources, tailored for seniors and caregivers across Perth.
Dedicated to community education and senior wellbeing, CWCC strives to offer content that is both relatable and useful. This episode focuses on the theme "How to Care for Your Brain as You Age", addressing common concerns around brain health, dementia awareness, and available support through CWCC's educational seminars.
The show is co-hosted by AI presenters Ah Chung and the newly upgraded Ah Wah. Now featuring more natural speech and expressive interaction, Ah Wah’s refreshed voice adds warmth and relatability to every interaction.
In this episode, Ah Chung and Ah Wah explore dementia in a casual yet informative dialogue, highlighting that dementia is not just forgetfulness but a complex medical condition affecting memory, thinking, emotions and daily functioning. CWCC has been a strong advocate for dementia awareness in recent years. In collaboration with Dementia Australia, CWCC introduced the “EDIE” virtual reality experience at its 2023 Health Expo. This immersive tool lets users experience the world through the eyes of someone living with dementia — from mistaking a puddle for a deep hole, to wandering aimlessly in a supermarket — helping to build genuine empathy in the community.
The programme also promotes CWCC’s ongoing workshops and seminars covering health and wellbeing, legal and financial literacy, aged care systems, social welfare, personal safety, and caregiver support. Sessions also address under-discussed but vital topics such as Advance Care Planning, nutrition, dementia care, and scam prevention.
All CWCC activities are supported with Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese interpretation to ensure inclusive access, breaking language barriers for culturally and linguistically diverse communities. These seminars are open to the broader community, not just CWCC clients, and often include one-on-one consultation time with qualified professionals to offer personalised advice and guidance.
