Every July, NAIDOC Week (National NAIDOC Week) celebrations take place across Australia to honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As a dedicated member of the Australian community, Chung Wah Community Care (CWCC) actively participated in and sponsored this year's NAIDOC activities, aiming to strengthen connections and understanding between cultures and build a better community for all.
On July 13th, the NAIDOC Week celebration in Mirrabooka concluded in a lively and festive atmosphere. The highlight of the event was the NAIDOC Awards ceremony, which recognises and celebrates individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the Aboriginal community, particularly those who have excelled in promoting Aboriginal culture and rights.
This year, CWCC proudly sponsored the "Service of the Year Award." CWCC Chairwoman Mrs. Esther Chang was honoured to attend the event and present the award to the winner, Sudbury House. In her speech, Mrs. Chang said, "As an organisation serving multicultural seniors, CWCC understands that respect and understanding are the cornerstones of community harmony and integration. CWCC will continue supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, protecting and promoting cultural diversity."
A series of vibrant Indigenous cultural activities added to the highlights of NAIDOC Week. These activities included guided tours, film screenings, art exhibitions, and workshops suitable for all ages, allowing participants to fully experience the charm of Indigenous culture. From the opening ceremony to various captivating performances, the day's events beautifully showcased the depth and richness of one of the world's oldest and most enduring cultures.
As a committed community member, CWCC not only plays a vital role in the Asian community but is also dedicated to promoting community integration and cultural diversity. By sponsoring and participating in NAIDOC Week activities, CWCC demonstrated its support and respect for the Aboriginal community while fulfilling its commitment to enhancing the quality of life within the community.
